Have you ever had an idea that you thought could make money?
Was it an idea that you thought could be great, only if you had enough
resources, a plan, or even partners? What did you do with that idea? Did you
run with it, go forth into developing it, or did you just let it stay an idea
because the risk was too high?
Let’s get real. I am an entrepreneur. I have discovered not everyone is cut out to
be an entrepreneur. It involves a lot of work, especially in taking an idea
from start to finish. For those who can rise to the challenge, there can be really
great rewards in the end.
My partner and I have built a successful brand that started from an idea we both realized we had while talking. We ran with our instinct, jumped into building our business, and it has been rewarding ever since. Has it been easy? No, it hasn't, but if you are really committed to taking your idea from start to finish, you will not regret it.
Commitment is what you will need if you are serious about becoming an entrepreneur and if you do not have it, you will need to develop it. If you have it, you will need to strengthen it daily. Commitment is what keeps you grounded when fear and obstacles present themselves, commitment is necessary for turning your idea into a successful product or business.
Having an idea is great but one of the most
important things for you to do if you want to develop that idea is figure
out if you want to work alone, or if you need help. There may be someone who
has the same idea, and like my scenario, could eventually become a great
business partner. In understanding all these things you need to create a
personal plan, and see what works best for you. Next, take that personal plan
further and develop it into a business plan. The business plan is the guideline that keeps
your business afloat. It takes in account all things needed for the business including the
mission, vision, and finances. There are many resources online and offline that
can show you how to develop a business plan. The U.S. Small Business Administration is a great place to start.
After you create your business plan, the next
step is to run with the idea from start to finish. It will involve a lot
of risks, but you have to take that first step. Having support along the way is
always beneficial so don't be afraid to reach out to you family, friends and colleagues for help.
In the end, know that any idea is worth
the challenge, but it all depends on if the challenge is worth it to you. So, is it?
